I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander out where you can't see Inside my shell, I wait and bleed Shane somewhat watched, as Flick shifted her position and was laying back down on the warm sand. He could see that there could be some similarities between them, not a whole lot of them - but maybe a few. "Complicated is my middle name." He nearly chuckled at that, but a half-smile had played upon his lips instead. Shane was quite grateful, that Flick respected his wish not to talk about it. He didn't really want to get into it, at least not yet. What Shane had hidden isn't something that you divulge to someone you just met a little while ago, it's a bit much to take in. I mean, how would you feel if someone that you just met on a beach tells you that they witnessed their mom's murder? See what I mean? It's a bit much to deal with. Shane briefly glanced down at Flick, seeing her head turned towards him and her cheek was resting in the sand. He noticed her smile and he couldn't help but smile back at her. "Cool." His shoulders slightly moved up and down, in a shrug. He took a deep breath, as he then leaned back - propping himself up on his elbows and stretching his legs out in front of him. He looked back at Flick. I'll see you around then." He saw her wink, before she turned head towards the sky. Shane let out a soft chuckle, turning his head to look out at the waves. A brief silence fell in between them, listening to the waves and the sounds of other people enjoying the good weather. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Flick turn towards him with a smirk touching her lips. "You'll have fun. It's thrilling." Shane smirked back, as he then turned his head towards her. "I bet it is..." he replied, with a little chuckle escaping past his lips. OOC: hehe thanks

and I can’t explain what happened AND I CAN’T ERASE THE THINGS THAT I’VE DONEThe problem with sand was that it literally got everywhere, even if a person wore shoes and layers of clothing, the small grains would creep their way whenever they got an opportunity. There wasn’t much point wearing proper clothes to the beach when the granules would inevitably get in between the material and the skin, causing friction and irritation. Hence, why Felicity wore as little as she could, and why she did not use a towel to lie on when the majority of people did. As all it ever accomplished was getting covered with sand and then bringing it back home to get over everything there as well until the towel was washed and clogged the washing machine with sand. The less she had to attract the tiny grains, the less likely her entire bedroom floor would be sprinkled with it. Flick did not want to forever have sand in her house, and perhaps one day other people would realise that it made more sense her way than any other. Yes, her skin was covered from head to toe, but one quick dip into the salty water and she would be clean, apart from the soles of her feet, and that was a smaller surface area to deal with.
She was glad to see him smiling, mostly because depressed people just weren’t much fun to be around and tended to drag the atmosphere down with them. Flick preferred upbeat people, those who were happy (or at least pretended to be) and enjoyed life. The types who could bring her out of a reverie and could distract her until she had to return to reality. Perhaps her nature of keeping out of other people’s business would pay off, she never liked to pry, and Shane seemed to appreciate that. It wasn’t fair to make anyone talk about things they didn’t want to talk about because it only hurt more. Shrinks should take that into account, though sitting in complete silence for an hour every week was something Felicity deemed a complete waste of time, and she should know. She understood the feeling of reluctance, the unwillingness to talk to anybody about her problems, let alone a stranger or someone she had just met. Shane looked troubled and distant for moments since they had been talking, but he wouldn’t exactly be keen to spill his thoughts to her so easily, and Flick wasn’t going to ask. He didn’t appear too excited about attending high school, though that wasn’t surprising as most teenagers around her age had had enough by now and only wanted to escape the confining walls. The silence between them didn’t feel awkward, but then it took a lot for Flick to feel awkward in a situation anyway so perhaps it wasn’t really saying much.
Flick smiled again, interested to see how well he would fair at Forks high with all the people craving for attention. It was too much even for Felicity sometimes, the pointless chatter over each person’s accomplishments and stories about their lives. It was all me, me, me with a lot of them; and though she was able to switch off easily enough, the high pitched voices of some of the females managed to break through her barrier against their words. Shane would probably be alright, his quiet nature would mean he was likely to stay quiet and listen to them all the same, without putting any input on himself. She liked those who were modest and would never blow their own trumpet to gain the respect of others and increase the size of their ego. “So, Shane, tell me something about yourself. Where did you live before you discovered the joys of Forks?” [/blockquote] no I can’tHOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO ME? tag; shane words; idkwearing; this credits; template by delilahh @ CAUTION!, lyrics to "untitled" by simple plan notes; …

I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander where you can't see Inside my shell, I wait and bleed The warm sun felt good on his skin, but the sand sticking to his skin - not so much. Shane knew that this would happen, it was inevitable, but still he wasn't a big fan of it. He rolled his eyes a little, as he brushed some of it off his leg. He knew also that even if he did get all of it off, which he wouldn't be able to, more would just take its place. So...what was really the point of brushing it off? He took a deep breath, glancing over at Flick. "So, Shane, tell me something about yourself. Where did you live before you discovered the joys of Forks?" Shane shrugged his shoulders a little, before he answered. "San Fransisco.." he said. A brief silence fell, as he could hear laughter and distant chatter from other people hanging on the beach. Life was going on as always - and it will go on. No matter what. Shane let out a little sigh, and then he turned his head. "And you, Flick? Did you grow up here, or are you new to the town like me?" he asked, seeing it was only fair...since she asked him first.

The sunlight glittered off the rising waves, catching their peaks and lighting them up so the ocean appeared like a sheet of sparking material that resembled anything other than water. The sand was warm from the invisible radiation that was directed from the large golden sun, though the air was now beginning to chill, signalling the subtle change in time since Flick had taken up her position on the beach. Felicity sat up again, her azure eyes gazing across the increasingly wild water, debating whether now was a good enough time to go for a dip before the weather changed. She sensed a storm was in the midst, and that wasn’t entirely surprising as it had been too long since their last downpour of rain and cracking of thunder. The sky above them all was filling slowly with clouds and not all were the nice fluffy white ones that looked non-threatening against the blue hue. One way or the other Flick would get the sand washed off of her pale skin, but was tempted more so by the vast open water that would soon be too treacherous to swim in.
She almost forgot her company, though he was quiet enough to be forgotten about, which Felicity preferred compared to the people who failed to ever shut their mouths for longer than a minute. Flick looked back at him, shifting her position so her knees were bent up and her arms were stretched out behind her for support, as she set about absorbing the last of the sunlight before it was covered entirely by clouds. “Cool. You must really hate it here, what with the rain and everything.” She commented flippantly, a smile curled upon her lips as she wondered what it was like living somewhere that didn’t rain practically 365 days a year. “I’ve always been here, practically part of the scenery I am.” Her smile persisted, even though that troubled look crossed his eyes once again, but she dismissed it, instead favouring the idle conversation that lacked the involvement of strong emotional ties.
“Fancy a swim?” Flick asked as she raised her sand coated body from the beach and rose to her feet, she intended in ridding her body from the grains that were now beginning to irritate her delicate skin and perhaps make her way elsewhere before the weather changed too dramatically. It seemed the weather in her hometown had the habit of gracing the world with sunshine and then destroying it swiftly with a flood of rain or even snow when it was cold enough. She could see now from her heightened angle that a few people had noticed the warning signs and were packing up before they were caught out. The fear of rainfall was truly amusing to watch for Felicity as though people were keen to swim in water; they practically ran from the water drops that fell from the heavens to douse them in liquid. Flick didn’t care about the rain or snow for that matter, but having a layer of sand over her skin, she did not feel the need to have it turn to slush rather than being washed off completely. Flick waited patiently for his answer, though he was fully clothed and appeared to have no intention of braving the shallow depths of salty water, she thought it was worth a try to ask. I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander where you can't see Inside my shell, I wait and bleed Flick's movement seemed to catch his attention somewhat, Shane looked over to see her sitting up and looking towards the water. He looked at the waves as well, the water looked a bit inviting. The not-so white clouds, however, weren't so inviting. He took a deep breath, as he glanced up. They did have some time, if they both wanted to go in the water and swim for a little bit. He was debating the idea, as Flick then shifted her position - remembering that he was sitting here still. He wasn't gonna hold it against her, though. He's used to it, since he isn't a chatterbox like other people. Shane is a quiet kind of person, he couldn't help it. “Cool. You must really hate it here, what with the rain and everything.” He managed a little shrug, before he answered. "It's not so bad really... it is different, but my aunt lives here.." Shane said, not minding the weather here. It seemed to match his mood a bit. Flick's smile didn't go unnoticed. “I’ve always been here, practically part of the scenery I am.” He nodded his head, letting out a bit of a chuckle at that. "That's an interesting way to put it, Flick." he commented, a half-smile touching his lips. A few moments passed, as Flick got up from her position upon the beach. “Fancy a swim?” Shane's smile went from half..to a full one. The water really did look inviting, to tell the truth. He glanced down at himself, as he rose to his own feet as well. "Sure, why not?" he replied. Shane then grabbed the hem of his t-shirt..and pulled it up over his head. His leather bracelet was next, lightly tossing it on top of his shirt. His scar on his wrist was now visible, a reminder of a past mistake, but maybe Flick won't notice it. All that was left now was his sneakers and socks. A soft sigh escaped past his lips, as he started taking them both off, one by one. OOC: Better late than never

Her toes sunk a little into the sand, the tiny grains shifting beneath her feet with the pressure of her weight. She preferred the beach when there were fewer people and now her wish was steadily becoming true as more people abandoned their day out, though plenty still remained as though waiting for the last minute to abandon all hope and retreat to their homes. She was glad to see Shane wasn’t one of those who ran at the sight of darkening clouds, and her opinion of him was raised just a little higher than it was before. Though perhaps it was a sign of someone who had accepted the weather, rather than those oddballs in Forks who wished for a brighter day in the hope that one day they would be able to see an entire week of sunshine without going to a totally different state.
“Right. That’s good. Different is one word for it, though other people prefer the term ‘depressing’.” Flick commented offhandedly, she smiled however as she glanced back at him and brushed the hair out of her eyes that had blown across her face in the light breeze that was developing. Flick locked her hands together behind her and pulled down to release the tension that had developed in her spine; once her back cracked satisfactorily, she loosened her muscles and released her fingers that had entwined with each other. “I’m an interesting kind of person.” She concluded in a tone that conveyed a hint of cockiness with a smirk adorned upon her lips as she rearranged her bikini top that had ridden up slightly as she had stretched, exposing more flesh than she had intended. It was unusual for someone to take such little interest in her, though she quite enjoyed the challenge of not living up to her normal standards. Flick was used to the flirting ways of the lads at school who were only after one thing, and she was all too willing to go along with them. Shane was different, nice and though she wasn’t used to it, Flick quite liked his friendly nature.
Shane had agreed to the offer to take a dip, which perhaps surprised her only because he seemed so shy that Flick thought he would be reluctant to strip off and actually join her. She was glad he did though, as it wouldn’t be much fun on her own in the water that was probably now beginning to cool with the changing weather. “Cool.” Her eyes turned from him as he removed his clothes, gazing back out to their natural swimming pool that also posed a home for the many marine animals that everyone seemed to forget about; that was until one brushed up against a bare leg or something. Felicity didn’t need to remove anything, for she was all ready for the occasion in her rather small bikini that pronounced her slender figure. Flick began to walk backwards, locking her eyes on his and with her mischievous smile in place, waiting for Shane to remove the last of his clothing, which appeared to only be his shoes and socks. I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander where you can't see Inside my shell, I wait and bleed Shane leaned over to untie one of his shoes, listening as she talked to him. “Right. That’s good. Different is one word for it, though other people prefer the term ‘depressing’.” He couldn't help but let out a little chuckle at that, since it made some sense. He didn't have to glance around to notice that, people around them were starting to pack up all their things and head for cover. The faint sounds of conversation filled his ears. To each his or her own, he thought. As a moment passed, one foot was done and now it was time to do the other one. He took a deep breath, as he slowly untied the knot. “I’m an interesting kind of person.” A smirk played at his lips, sneaking a glance up at Flick. Shane glanced back down, when he noticed as she began to rearrange her bikini top a little - it apparently rode up a bit and revealed some skin. He gently bit his bottom lip, trying to take his other shoe and sock off. “Cool.” He let out a soft exhale, getting his shoe off and...having a bit of trouble with his sock for some reason. It had gotten caught upon his toes or something, and for a second too long, Shane was a bit off-balance. He ended up falling on his arse, chuckling as he fell back onto the sand. From there, he got the sock off of his foot and he stuffed it into his sneaker. Shane slowly got back up on his bare feet, sand sticking to his back and the back of his shorts. He cracked a little, sheepish smile. Oh well, it will wash off in the water.., he mused. As a few moments came and went, he shook his head a little and some sand flew out of his hair. He slightly shrugged both of his shoulders, glancing over at Flick.

People were the essence of all things living and Felicity needed their company to keep her sane, otherwise she would end up retreating down memory lane that had nothing to offer her than sharp pangs of emotion that would inevitably lead her down a dark road into depression. A feat that she had thus far managed to escape in the grand total of four years since the initial bomb hit her family and sparked off the chain of events that repeated themselves up until that very moment; and would continue to do so until something changed. In truth she didn’t mind the overzealous babbling on subjects she cared nothing about from people she barely knew, just because their voices distracted Flick enough from the ticking time bomb that rested inside her. Shane, though not terribly chatty, was still capable of saving her from herself and Felicity was somewhat grateful for his newly acquired company. She would probably never admit it, not to him or anyone else in her life, but that was just how she rolled. She could convince herself otherwise if she never said the words that would show friends that she really did care and was not cold hearted and devoid of all feelings. It was a simple mask that protected her, shielding her from the attachment that she dared not think about, and allowing her to live her life the way she wanted.
Her thoughts were set on the cooling waves that would soon engulf her body, rinsing the sand from her skin and refreshing her senses. It was not often that she indulged in the salty waters, nor the perfect beaches of La Push, and so she had revelled in every small experience the place threw at her. She flashed her cat-like smile towards the boy as another smirk graced his lips, whether in his agreement with her comment or because he was simply humouring her, Flick didn’t care. It was a true enough statement, as she could provide any psychologist with an interesting subject for their psychoanalysis and she suspected they would be able to extract all the correct information as long as she opened her lips and spoke. She was looking forward to Shane starting his boring descent into the Forks education system, and would perhaps even make an effort to ensure his wellbeing in amongst the animals or maybe try and lead him astray and into the realm of broken rules, which would honestly be a lot more fun for the girl.
Flick didn’t miss the look on his face and the subtle biting of his lower lip, which she caught from the corner of her eye and expected he would soon draw blood if he kept up his little habit. A soft thump drew her attention back fully to Shane, and found he had fallen to the ground in his attempt to remove the last of his clothing. She tilted her head, bemused as to how he had lost balance so dramatically to end up entirely on his backside, though she didn’t offer a hand to help him up as Shane seemed capable enough to extract his body from the sand. “Now that’s how to impress a girl.” She commented jokingly, the words slipping off her tongue easily as she smiled in an attempt to encourage his confidence a little more. Once he was fully back on his feet and well balance, Flick twisted round so she faced the vastness of the ocean that lay at the end of the stretch of sand, and took up a faster pace. “Come on then.” She called back to Shane, glancing over her shoulder to ensure he was pursuing her across the billions of tiny granules that were compacted together in one big piece of land. Her legs took on a gentle jog and before long, Flick’s feet touched the sodden patch of sand that created an uneven line as far as the eye could see, showing how much the incoming tide had come up so far. A few more steps and her feet were submerged in the cool liquid that flowed smoothly across her skin, the sand now shifting underneath her as the sea turned it about with its current and the hidden remnants of animal shells were waiting to be trodden on by the unsuspecting girl. Felicity stood perfectly still for a moment and glanced over to Shane and then back to the open water as she contemplated her dive. I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander out where you can't see Inside my shell, I wait and bleed As Shane had fallen to the ground, he noticed the tilt of her head and her eyes upon him. What a first impression, he thought to himself. He didn't hear her laugh, which was considered a good thing to him. Shane took a deep breath, a minor discomfort as the sand clung to his skin and the back of his shorts. No worries, it will get washed off soon enough. “Now that’s how to impress a girl.” As Shane got back up on his feet, he couldn't help but manage a small chuckle. A half-smile played at his lips. When he was balanced again on his own two feet, Flick turned away from him to look out at the water before them. “Come on then.” she yelled, taking off towards the water. He chuckled again, as she had glanced over her shoulder to see if he was following. "Right behind you." he called to Flick, as he pulled his car keys and his phone right out of his pockets. Shane tossed them, on top of his t-shirt, and took off after her. He went across the sand in a small jog, feeling the eyes of a few people looking at them. Like he cared, anyhow. If they weren't bold enough to stick around longer, then it is their problem. He and Flick were, so there. A few moments came and went, as Shane reached Flick and stood beside her. The water hit his feet and submerged both of them, it felt quite good. He glanced over at Flick, and she glanced over at him. Their eyes met for a brief moment, he glanced back at the water in front of them. He gently ran a hand through his hair, bits of sand falling out as he did. His back slightly itched from the sand particles clinging to it. A moment passed by the two of them. OOC: It's okay

Flick’s eyes were unintentionally piercing, her gaze often made people feel awkward as they subconsciously felt a burning sensation, and the subsequent paranoia was something that she saw as something positive rather than not. More often than not, she enjoyed the involuntary responses in the forms of twitches and shifts in position from anyone her eyes happened to stare onto. It was trait that was seen as negative by others, though it gave Felicity a small sense of power that only her subtle actions could achieve such uncomfortable feelings. Perhaps she was a little wicked inside with the miniature devil sitting on her shoulder and luring her much more than the pure and good side ever did. After all at a mere sixteen years old, Flick was already an accomplished drinker with her preferred beverage of beer or vodka, though it all tasted the same after she had had a few. Her persistent lack of commitment was something that wasn’t wholly surprising since she was only young and her parent’s marriage was hardly something to inspire her that love conquered all. No, instead she was like a bad apple; rotting inside, and in the knowledge that it could only get worse.
Shane couldn’t see that; nobody could, so what chance did he have after they had only just met? Her parents didn’t even realise as they were too wrapped up in their own lives to care so Shane would have a long way to go if he were ever to know the true side of Felicity Stonebridge. A laugh, a smile; that was all it took to cover up what truly laid in her. Perhaps it was the same for him as well, since the world revolved around a series of lies to protect people, or more importantly protect themselves. Of course, he couldn’t leave the girl to go splashing about in the water alone and Flick hear the soft thuds of his footsteps behind her before he caught up with her when she reached the sea.
The brief glances from the remaining inhabitants of the beach suggested they thought the pair were crazy for heading towards the water when a storm was pressing ever closer, perhaps they were, but either way, Flick didn’t give a thought to them. The water lapped against her skin as though in an attempt to wash away her impurities, but she would have to stand fully submerged for a long time to become fully cleansed. She gave Shane another mischievous smile and walked further into the ocean until the salty waves were riding just below her waist. Flick turned to give him a quick wink before taking a deep breath and diving head first into the cool water, the sensation unreal compared to her daily routines that consisted of nothing anywhere near equivalent to it. The sand was washed off her skin in an instant and returned to the bottom of the sea in one smooth motion that wasn’t even noticeable. Flick emerged a small distance from where she set off, further out from the shore so she had to tread water since the sandy surface was lower than she could reach, and her eyes searched for the familiar figure of her new acquaintance. I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander out where you can't see Inside my shell, I wait and bleed Shane took a deep breath, as he took in the nice view of the water before them. He could see the storm as it was starting to draw a bit closer towards land. A half-smile danced upon his lips, glancing back at the remaining few people around. One or two were shaking their heads, as they began to pack up their things. "They're crazy." "Seriously can't they see that a storm is coming?", Shane silently mused, betting that's what the remaining few are thinking about him and Flick. He let out a soft chuckle, glancing at the water again. Like it really mattered what they thought. A few moments came and went, while his mind drifted. And so what if they are a little crazy for doing this? Maybe it's sometimes fun to be crazy. This day was turning out to be quite interesting, he mused. Then, Shane noticed Flick's little wink before she headed on farther into the water - stopping when it reached her waist. A moment passed, then she dived underwater. A smirk had touched his lips, as he continued farther into the water and stopped when it reached his waist as well. He looked around him once more, at the remaining people ashore, then took a deep breath and went under the surface. The water washed off the remaining sand on his body and he went slowly back up to the surface. He glanced around for Flick, seeing her as she came back up a few feet away from him. He went under again, this time swimming towards his friend.

Felicity wouldn’t have cared if the storm was in full force, with fierce winds turning the gentle waves into a choppy current that would easily sweep her body into the open ocean. The water was fresh and brought reality back upon her, the reasons behind why she was on the beach far from her home and the reasons why she was reluctant to leave even though it would soon start to rain. The clouds were deepening in colour, turning from their light grey to something that was so close to black that it looked as though the sky was just waiting for the right moment to open up and swallow them up. The wind remained calm for the moment, though it was likely it wouldn’t last for much longer, but that made Flick and Shane’s swim all the more exciting. She enjoyed the risk that at any moment the storm would rage, and she could not predict how bad it would be until it was upon them. it was one of her traits that her brother had hated the most, her complete disregard for her own safety in almost any situation, which had resulted in the rather unfortunate event of alighting the science block at her school.
She was quite impressed that Shane had followed her lead not only into the sea, but also diving under the water itself and submerging his body before emerging a small distance away from her. the few people that were either waiting for the first drops of rain before packing up or who were just about to leave, were watching the pair of them. Flick didn’t pay them much attention since they were complete strangers, though she was aware that they were watching out for the incoming storm and wondering if herself and Shane had a suicide wish or something. The more time she spent with the boy, the more she liked him, perhaps even so much that Flick would be willing to call him a friend once they departed at the end of their beach excursion. Shane wouldn’t know it, but calling anyone a friend was particularly difficult for the girl as once a friendship was achieved then it was inevitable that it would grow to something more, either what one would call a best friend or if a little flirting was involved then a possible boyfriend; neither of which Felicity was keen on.
Her body rose up and down with each small wave that was heading for the shore, whilst bigger waves simply went over her head when she didn’t go along with them. She waited for Shane to join her as she noticed he was swimming towards her, his body moving through the water easily as she trod water to stay afloat. Flick smiled as he approached, though before he reached her a large wave crashed over her. She took a deep breath before her head was plunged under the water; she stopped treading water so her body sunk below the surface and swum deeper down with the idea of causing a little mischief as Shane would not know where she had gone. Of course, Flick would not cause him to panic that she had in fact drowned or anything, so her movements below the water were swift as she sought out the form of her companion through stinging eyes. Her eyes locked on Shane through slightly blurry vision and propelled her body upwards. Her head broke the surface behind him with a gentle sound that could have been drowned out by the tide itself. “You know, you’re a lot more fun than most people I know.” She commented truthfully, though in reality Flick did not have many friends and those she did have were usually harmed by her wayward ways and flirtatious nature, so perhaps they would be more fun if she was a nicer person. Either way, she was enjoying her day out nonetheless.

I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander out where you can't see Inside my shell, I wait and bleed The water felt refreshing, gently caressing him as he swam toward his new friend. Soon, he'll be starting at Forks High. He'll be the new kid, at a new school. Shane doesn't like that feeling, not at all. But now that he has met somebody who's going to the same school, then maybe it won't be so bad. His lips slowly formed a half-smile, as he swam along. It did feel good to be swimming again, a first in a long time. He hasn't really gone since his mom's death, Shane thought he would be a little rusty after all this time. But it seemed to be quite untrue, from the way he moved through the water. Like he had been swimming all along. A small wave of relief slowly washed over him, as he continued. A moment came and went, then he could spot Flick's legs in the water. He chuckled to himself, inside his head. She was an interesting girl, and he was a bit glad to have met her today. As he was about to come up for air, a wave came and crashed upon both of them. Shane's head was suddenly forced back under the water and his mouth had been open a little, some water managed to slip in. He came back toward the surface, taking a gulp of air and then started coughing. Another moment passed. Shane didn't hear Flick come back up to the surface, but before he could really panic, he heard her voice coming from behind him. “You know, you’re a lot more fun than most people I know.” He slowly turned around to look at Flick, a half-smile touching his lips. "Really?" he replied, running a hand through his wet hair. His eyes glanced over at the few remaining people on the beach, who were watching the two of them in the water. What next, break out the popcorn? As a moment or two came and went, Shane managed to splash her a little bit. He couldn't help but to let out a soft chuckle. "Well,..you're pretty fun to be around too." he commented, meaning every word.

Felicity never seemed to have difficulty making friends, she was usually upbeat and up for anything and would rarely say anything against anyone, so it was an easy task to get people to like her. Though it was more that she was their friend, rather than Flick reciprocating the feeling; sure she would use the term ‘friend’, but she used it loosely and only when it was necessary. The main problem was keeping those that called her friend, because in one way or another she would manage to push them all away until she barely had a single person to rely on. Flick was sure that as long as she had her brother then she didn’t really need friends anyway, which was perhaps an unrealistic theory to follow as Nathan wasn’t going to be around forever.
The open ocean made Flick feel even more insignificant, a tiny blot upon the world’s surface whose only purpose was to self destruct once the timer went off. Though that feeling was only enhanced because of the simple fact that only herself and Shane remained in the sea, whilst previously the water had been filled with people and although the ocean was vast, it did not appear quite as large as it did now everyone was slinking off home. A warm smile came across her lips as Flick emerged and was greeted by Shane’s own welcoming grin, which was matched with a foreign warm feeling towards her new companion that rarely felt at all, let alone so soon after meeting someone. ”Really?” “Sure, most people I know are too wrapped up in the lives of celebrities or complaining about their boyfriends. They don’t really do anything else.” Flick replied offhandedly, telling Shane of her experiences of other people, which were for the most part those she attended Forks High with. "Well,..you're pretty fun to be around too." A smirk replaced the smile on her lips, the words were nothing new to the girl as she had heard them many times before from differing people. True half the time she was too drunk to pay attention to what anyone was saying, but that never meant that she didn’t remember it in the morning. Flick wrinkled her nose a little as Shane splashed her, and retaliated by splashing him back. “Of course I am, how else would anyone get through the day?”
She trod water again, glancing back towards the beach where very few people remained as their attempt to pack up took longer than they had imagined. A low rumble of thunder followed a crack of lightening that appeared moments before, the storm approaching faster now as the clouds darkened and Felicity expected the first drops of rain to fall at any moment. The wind was picking up just a little, increasing the ferocity of the waves that beat against the considerably small bodies of Shane and herself in comparison to the stretch of water that surrounded them. Naturally the thought of evacuating the water came to Flick, but that was shortly followed by the reasoning that there was in theory, still plenty of time before the storm raged fully and would bring torturous swimming conditions to their temporary sanctuary. It was likely she would have to return home sometime soon anyway, before her phone started ringing with calls about her whereabouts. Flick didn’t care, but it was a lot less hassle sometimes to go home before the police were called, which was something she was unfortunately used to.

I've felt the hate rise up in me Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves I wander out where you can't see Inside my shell, I wait and bleed Flick's grin didn't go quite unnoticed by Shane, as another moment came and went. A cool breeze blew past them, as she spoke up. “Sure, most people I know are too wrapped up in the lives of celebrities or complaining about their boyfriends. They don’t really do anything else.” Shane nodded his head, agreeing with her statement. He, too had a little bit of experience with that sort of thing. Quite a few of the girls in his old high school tended to talk about who's hot or not in the celebrity world, mostly it was the popular girls though. Shane gave his eyes a silent roll, as he briefly pictured a few of them sitting in lunch - celeb magazines in front of them, spread out on the lunch table. "I..kinda know what you mean..." he then replied, glancing at the remaining few people on the beach. Some were packing in slow-motion, like they were stuck in molasses or something. Their gazes, all fixed upon him and Flick, probably wondering..what the hell is going on inside their heads. One even began shaking their head, at the sight. Shane let out a little sigh, turning back towards Flick. He noticed her wrinkling her nose, then his lips cracked into a smirk, as she splashed him back. “Of course I am, how else would anyone get through the day?”
He turned his head, to avoid getting splashed right in the face, though it proved to be...a not-so successful move on his part. Shane coughed once, when some water hit his mouth and went down his throat. "Exactly...I mean, where's the fun in being dull?" he answered, as he slowly ran a hand through his wet hair and could hear the familiar rumble of thunder in the distance. He turned to see the crack of lightning, following the thunder. Shane can somewhat feel the wind pick up a little, he took a deep breath and glanced around. If his mom was still alive, she would be yelling for him to get inside. A slight pang in his heart, at the brief thought of her. He pushed it right out of his head, glancing at the sky again. There was still time left, before they had to go.., he thought.
