Kim tried and tried to control her trembling, but it was getting harder and harder. The emotions in her body were taking over. The fear was taking control of her body and she could not control the tears or shaking anymore. She did not like Jared being here. She wanted him to save her and be her Knight in Shining Armor, but she wanted him to get out. This guy could be dangerous not only to her, but to him. She could deal with dying. Sure, not the best way to end her life, but seeing Jared hurt.....that would be a death in itself. “Shh, no need to worry. I’ll make it quick, it might even be painless – I wouldn’t know, I’ve never died.” She desperately wanted to say quite a few things to him but kept her mouth shut in an attempt to keep any chance she had of walking away from this.
As she listened to Jared plead, her thoughts grew even more depressing. It's no use Jared. You might as well stop. Im going to die here in this alleyway. I love you. Get out while you can. She also wanted desperately to say all of these things but knew that it would bring nothing but more satisfaction to this man. She could already sense it from the sound of his voice. He loved hearing Jared plead for her life and loved to feel the fear coarse through her body. Pleading with him would do nothing. There was no way to convince him. He was hungry and wanted blood. Kim had just so happened to be the one he wanted. “Now why would I want to do that?” She forced the tears to stop and kept her voice stable before saying anything. "Please.." Although she knew there was no point in begging, she figured that even a vampire as cold as this man must have a heart somewhere. But, the question was, could his heart overcome his thirst? She doubted it. “What do you think? I want her blood, that’s all; you can keep her body if you wish.” This hit Kim hard. There it was, she was going to die in that alleyway and all Jared could do was watch.

If it had just been him in Port Angeles and he had come across this vampire...or any vampire for that matter, he would have played around a little to provoke it and make it angry. He couldn’t do that now, not when Kim was on the line. If this vampire killed her he would ask to die too. He was sure that the leech would laugh and kill him anyway. He stopped thinking about this though. He wasn’t going to die and neither was Kimberly. There had to be something he could say or do to let her go. He knew that even though he was a disgusting leech, he used to be human. Even if he didn’t want to admit it he knew it was true, this thing did have a heart at some point in it’s life. He had to care a little bit about the person he was going to kill, right? He hoped he was right but he knew there wasn’t a good chance of it.
He took a couple slow cautious steps towards them. He could see Kim trembling and he wanted nothing more then to comfort her and hold her in his arms and tell her that everything was going to be all right. He couldn’t do that though and he didn’t know everything would be all right. He was just waiting to wake up from this horrible nightmare. He couldn’t take it anymore and he didn’t know why he wasn’t waking up. He was starting to believe this was actually happening, that the worst thing he could think of was happening. His biggest fear was losing Kim, he wouldn’t be able to function without her. He knew he should be in more panic mode and she would shaking so violently that he could barely control it but for some reason, he wasn’t. He wasn’t sure why though. His best friend and love of his life was most likely going to die and he could do nothing but watch. He hadn’t fully wrapped himself around what was happening yet and maybe that was a good thing, maybe it was best for him and Kim that he wasn’t completely freaking out. Maybe.
He was just about ten feet away from them and he could tell Kim had no hope. She truly believed that Jared wouldn’t do everything in his power to save her, even if that meant giving up his own life. He took a deep breath in and quickly regretted it. Kim’s beautiful smell was there but it was mixed in with a disgusting deep smell which was the reason he was here. He moved his eyes away from Kim and back towards the vampire, who he still didn’t know the name of, just as a black animal emerged from the shadows. He hadn’t even noticed it. He should have smelled it but since it smelled of vampire it had just gone unnoticed. He wasn’t scared of a fox, he could have it dead in a matter of minutes.
His eyes only were on the fox for a minute before they were back on the bloodsucker as he answered his question. He didn’t really think this thing would say, ‘oh She’s your girlfriend! I wont hurt her then!’ but he thought it was at least worth a shot. “Come on. Can’t you find someone else to kill?” He couldn’t believe he was telling the vampire to kill someone but he would rather it was someone else than Kim. He watched the vampire laugh at him. Of course he knew that he wanted her blood but what he wanted to know is why her? Was it because she was with Jared, a shifter, or was it really because her blood was appealing to him. He cringed and he knew his face projected the pain of this things last comment. The thought of her lifeless body was killing him. He took one tiny step forward.
“Isn’t there something, someone, anything you’d rather have besides her?” He asked. He glanced back over to Kim. She was so innocent and kind and loving. She hadn’t gotten to live her life and because of him she possibly never would.
sorry it took a little while..i hate school work :/ hope it's okay! [:

How he enjoyed every human reaction, and though he loathed them at the same time, there was something satisfying in the terror the young female was suffering. Dacre didn’t have any fear any more, not since he had been changed and suffered the consequences of the unknown vampire that had forced upon him the half-life that he now led. The vampire living his life as a man in his twenties had sworn to himself that he would never subject any human to a life of eternity, but after six hundred years, Dacre had done just that. He didn’t remember what exactly had happened, but he was certain that the man had not died and that the venom Dacre had forced into his bloodstream had taken over and turned him into the same blood feeding monster he was. He had a mental block on the incident, a shadow marred his memory so Dacre did not recollect it anymore than he did his own childhood.
The humans seemed far more fragile than he remembered being, so terrified of death that it prevented them from truly living, and then it was often too late. Dacre had lived, loved and lost in all too short a time. The people in his day didn’t live long, they were thought to have been lucky to reached their twenties and anything above that was almost deemed a miracle. His world was full of disease and death from every angle, the plague consuming so much of the population in England in such a short period, it was a miracle his own son had survived and lived a reasonably healthy life until his fifties. Dacre remembered the facts, or at least most of them, but he could not remember how his beloved Claudia’s voice sounded or the smell of his son’s head as a baby; those were the things that the humans treasured and Dacre was deprived of them.
The girl’s silence finally broke, her voice like liquid velvet that had an edge to it as she also pleaded with the single word that managed to force itself from her flushed lips. “Please?!” He mocked and once more his lips curled into a malicious smile that showed his pearlescent teeth against his pallid skin. “You honestly think that I would let you go if you said please? You humans disgust me, what with your fear of death. You should welcome it with open arms. Embrace it.” Dacre retorted fiercely though his voice remained lowered as to not attract any attention from the oblivious members of the public that walked freely, safe in the knowledge that vampires were merely mythical. The male stepped closer, subtly, but it had not gone unnoticed by Dacre’s sharp vision that picked up the tiniest movements without him focussing entirely upon them. He still had a grip over the mind of his fox, and a sudden change of thought made the small beast move towards Jared and take up an aggressive stance with teeth bared and a low growl emitting from its throat, whilst Ira’s body lowered at the front as he prepared to pounce once the command came. The woodland creature would not stand a chance if anyone tried to attack it, and though the fox had been Dacre’s servant for a good while, the vampire no longer cared whether the animal lived or died.
“Come on. Can’t you find someone else to kill?” Dacre’s interest was perked by the shifter’s words, intrigue settling over him as he practically confessed that he would rather anyone else die than the one person he loved. “Isn’t there something, someone, anything you’d rather have besides her?” The plan was forming in Jared’s mind, and Dacre didn’t even need to be able to read minds to know the offer of a trade. Dacre didn’t know what the male expected, whether he assumed that he could fetch the vampire another meal in exchange for the girl or whether he would let her go and hunt another human being himself. “Well, well. I thought you were meant to protect the humans, not suggest I kill them, eh mutt?” Dacre did not intend on accepting anything less than the delectable blood contained in Kim’s body as the burning in his throat slowly progressed so soon it would become unbearable and someone’s life would need to be drained. “What are you trying to offer me, mongrel?” He asked, humouring Jared whilst his girlfriend’s life hung in the balance. “Would you prefer I picked someone else to feed from? What about a different fresh young single mother, whose kids are dependent on her? Or perhaps even a child instead? You would prefer if I took one of their lives, destroyed their families, rather than hers?” Dacre laughed, the animal within him taking over the last trace of his human conscience as he bombarded the pair with images that neither of them would have thought about in their selfishness. “Do you really want control who lives and dies, Jared? Do you want to be responsible for that?”

Kim's vision switched in between Jared and the fox as Jared took a few cautious steps forward. If he came any closer, the fox would attack. Sure, not a big deal. Jared could probably take a fox. But, while Jared's concentration was temporarily focused on the fox, where would she and the vampire go. Surely, the vampire would not allow his perfect opportunity to escape with her to slip by. He could escape off into Port Angeles with her and it would be too late for Jared to follow. Silently, she begged for him to stop were he was, turn around, and go. To go move on with his life, try to find a new girlfriend maybe, and just keep himself safe. She would not mind giving up her own life as long as she knew that Jared would not have to watch and wouldn't get hurt afterward. But, Kim knew what would be the outcome if she did beg Jared to leave. He would be appalled, stay and beg, then watch as she died. What a dream day.... She thought, closing her eyes momentarily wishing she just had her own way to close herself off from the rest of the world. The rest of the mythical world actually...
However, her silence and her little world was shattered when she heard the vampire's voice, mocking her, in her ear. Of course, she had never expected him to let her go just because of Please. She did not expect him to let go of her at all. She honestly expected to die here in this alley. To have her life taken away from her by this man holding her. Then the thoughts flooded to her. What about her family? Her mom and dad? Carolyn? What would Jared do if this man killed her? How would he be able to go on. He wouldn't. She thought. Of course, she had known this the entire time, he had said it to her on few occasions, but she definatly did not want this to happen.
She was shocked at Jared's suggestion. She wasn't going to let that happen. She would be weighed down with guilt for the rest of her life if she let someone else die just so she could live. "Jared...we can't do that." She said, just before listening to the vampire speak once more. A single mother, a child.....all the thoughts of this nameless vampire taking their lives overwhelmed Kim. She couldn't let that happen. She would never be able to let that happen. She'd rather herself died to satisfy this vampire then have him take a mother, who's children are dependent upon or the child itself. Kim almost collapsed at the thought of the guilt that would be placed upon both herself and Jared if that were to happen. “Do you really want control who lives and dies, Jared? Do you want to be responsible for that?” She shook her head slowly. "Jared, we can't let him do that.." She knew that this would probably kill Jared. Here she was, the love of his life, practically offering herself to a vampire. But, she could not let the vampire take another human being's life and let her just walk away knowing what was going to be happening to them. She just couldn't.

He had messed up before in his life like any other person had but he had screwed up so much this time and he wasn’t going to recover from it. He put Kim’s like in danger and possibly ended her life for her. He had dragged her into a life of mythical creatures for his own befit, for him not her. Then it was his idea to come to Port Angeles, he encouraged her to skip school and come with him to Port Angeles. He had ruined the little bit of life left for her. Of course he knew that one day Kim would die, she wasn’t immortal. He just thought it wouldn’t be for a while.
He hated seeing Kim like this. He could tell just by looking at her just how scared she was...he was scared. What if this was the last time he saw her...alive at least. He had to think of someway to get them both out of this without any death, unless it was the death of the bloodsucker; he was perfectly fine with that. He was drawing a blank though, he wished that he had one of his pack members...when it was two against one he would be more likely to win. He couldn’t tell if any of the guys-or Leah-were near by, the smell of the leech was everywhere-he could barely concentrate. The disgusting sweet sickly smell was causing him to lose this sense all together. If there was another shifter near, he couldn’t tell.
The fox reacted to his moving forward. If he had to kill the fox then Kim would be dead by the time he was done so he froze. He stopped walking forward in hopes that the fox would retreat. This wasn’t how today was supposed to go! It was supposed to be fun, not terror. It was true. He wished someone else would die instead of Kim. He was incredibly selfish for wanting that and he knew it but he couldn’t help it. Kim didn’t deserve to die, but then again which one of his victims did. He just wanted her back and that was all he knew. He also knew he was prepared to do anything to get her back. And at any price.
“Would you prefer I picked someone else to feed from? What about a different fresh young single mother, whose kids are dependent on her? Or perhaps even a child instead? You would prefer if I took one of their lives, destroyed their families, rather than hers?” The bloodsucker said laughing. He didn’t want to admit it but that was what he wanted. He wished that someone else would die instead of her. It was horrible of him to want that and he would feel guilty forever but the thing was he knew that even if this vampire killed Kim he would still go and kill someone else. He would kill a child tomorrow or a mother next week. He knew Kim would rather sacrifice herself to this thing then let him go kill someone else but he didn’t want that. Kim was always telling him to make choices or what they did or where they would go and he very rarely did but he was making this decision for her. He wasn’t going to let her give this thing the satisfaction of killing her. If he was going to kill her then it would be while Jared was ripping his head off. He ignored Kim as she told him he couldn’t let someone else die in place of her. He would feel awful about it but he couldn’t let Kim die. “Yes.” He said, finally answering the vampires initial question. He didn’t want to control who lived and who died, he didn’t want to be responsible for someone else's death but he couldn’t be responsible for Kim’s, he wouldn’t be able to deal with that.
“Just let her go.” He begged, one last time. He knew soon that the vampire would go out of control and attack Kim.

The invisible torment that was evident as flashes between the pair delighted Dacre beyond measure, and he wondered why he had preferred to stick with the criminals and scum of the world for so many years when the innocent were much more fun to toy with. Perhaps he would continue his more wayward ways and feast upon the more precious blood that was considered practically treasure since corruption ruled the land even more in the twenty first century. Really, how much of the population could be deemed pure? Kim certainly smelt pure to him, her scent was succulent though it was marred slightly by the vile scent of the shifter, but the adrenaline and fear made up for that.
Ira was straining against his mind control, the small animal sensing the large wolf that was hidden within the human form of the male, so the vampire relaxed his manipulation and the fox slunk back down the alley into the shadows so only his bright golden eyes were visible. Dacre wondered why he kept a hold on the fox since the animal had become so reluctant of late to serve his master, though Ira had become a lot more relaxed in the knowledge that he was no longer shacked up with a female vamp who desperately wanted to eat him. Luckily for the dog-like creature, Kiwi was no longer the bane of his existence, nor Dacre’s, which he now realised wasn’t real. In truth he missed the feisty girl whose hair changed radically throughout the time period he had known her and even loved her, as a friend of course, but the feeling was there nonetheless. Now, Dacre was stuck in void of perpetual darkness, a black hole even, sucking him in deeper and deeper until there was nothing left. So here he was, standing in some dank alleyway acting God with a human who had done nothing to offend him or anyone else (and probably never would), merely because he couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel anymore. Yes, he was having a bit of fun toying with life and death, but that feeling would be gone as soon as he was alone once again.
He could practically see the thoughts running through the girl’s mind, the same as any other who faced death. Thoughts of their loved ones, snippets of memories and that ever present hope that rarely seemed to die until right at the very end when life itself was snapped away from them. Dacre needn’t worry about such meaningless things as he had no friends and no family; no one to miss him anymore. He was aware that many vampires found a mate, found that special someone to fill the gap inside them that was taken away as soon as they had been changed. The venom, it was poison; it took everything away and destroyed it. Dacre resented whoever had changed him, like he assumed many other vampires did.
Dacre smirked as Kim rejected his suggestion for Jared to find someone to take her place, the girl clearly too fond of human life to allow anyone else to die instead of herself. Jared on the other hand surprised him. ”Yes.” The vampire’s smirk turned into a broad grin in the knowledge that the shifter, the protector of humans, would much rather anyone else die in place of his girlfriend. True, it was possible that Dacre would still take the lives of single mothers, but he would never take a child’s life. The vague memory of his son haunted him each time an enticing scent lead him to a kid, and he would swiftly change paths and hunt for someone who had lived more than a few mere years. “Now, what would your pack say to that eh? They’d be disappointed with you, don’t you think? Offering up humans for slaughter in order to save this young miss? It’s almost…vampiric.”
”Just let her go.” The delicate words of one who had hope even in the most hopeless of situations, it was pleasurable to Dacre’s well tuned ears and he wondered how far Jared would go to save his damsel in distress. “And how exactly do you intend on making me do that?” He questioned with malice, knowing that he could throw Kim around like a rag doll, breaking her bones and causing her enough injury that he would be putting her out of her misery by killing her. No other scent mattered to him now, she was overpowering him with her own blood so that anything from the street seemed like it was miles away. Of course he would still be able to pick out any human who had drawn blood recently, the scent would be strong enough to penetrate the fog of smells in the narrow alley and in Dacre’s current position, he was likely to dart out and grab them before anyone even noticed. “You ought to do what your girlfriend says, accept her fate like she has. You don’t want to upset her now, do you?”

Kim didn't know what to do anymore. This man was a vampire and have rock hard, granite skin. There was no way Kim could hurt him, no matter how hard she tired. Jared couldn't hurt him. Not while she was in his arms like this. He could snap her neck in just one second with the slight twitch of a finger. Was there anyway to get out of this? Anyway at all? There was screaming, but that would just attract the attention of other humans and definatly would not help. If there was nothing Jared could do, there was nothing any humans could do. Tears started flowing down Kim's cheeks again. All she felt like doing right now was giving up. Kim watched, her body tense as the fox started....retreating? She watched as the dark figure retreated into the shadows of the alley. “Yes.” Kim was appalled. She could not believe that Jared was wishing someone else dead. "Jared!" She shook her head slowly, trying to convince herself that he would never let anyone else die even if it was in her place. He was just saying that to get the vampire to consider letting me go. If he had to though, he wouldn't let anyone else die. RIght?" She couldn't convince herself of this. She knew, even though it was incredibly selfish, he would rather someone die then her. He would be guilty for the rest of his life, but he would have Kim and that was all that mattered to him right now. “You ought to do what your girlfriend says, accept her fate like she has. You don’t want to upset her now, do you?” She wanted to tell him how it was a little late for that. She would already be traumatized for the rest of her life even if she did walk away from this. She was in the presence of death and would always walk by someone wondering, "Is he a vampire? Is she a vampire? All hopes of making new friends and trusting new people had disappeared when she had been caught in the arms of a vampire. She watched Jared with sad eyes. He was so desperate to get her back. She wanted to tell him that she loved him and to continue living his life to the best of his ability, for her. But, she wasn't going to give the vampire the satisfaction of watching Kim make her 'Last Request.' She wasn't going to die in this alley. Jared would let her, and she would not let herself. She would do what she could, although it was very little, to stay alive. She wouldn't think that she was doing it for herself or even for her family. Her motivation for staying alive and not losing hope was standing right in front of her. Jared.

The worst part about all of this was that this leech was enjoying himself. It wasn’t just because he was hungry, he liked watching Jared beg and he liked the fear that Kim was showing. He watched as the fox retreated and wondered what could possibly be going through the vampires mind. What was he trying to do-besides kill Kim of course-was there something he wanted to happen? Did he want Jared to snap and attack him or did he just want to watch him beg? Even if Kim made it out of this alive, which didn’t seem likely, things wouldn’t just be fixed. She would be severely traumatized and would probably break up with him...but at least she would be safe. He watched as the tears rolled down her face, this was hurting him more then her. To see her in pain and scared for her life with nothing he could do about it was unbearable.
It was horrible that she thought he would just leave, what was even worse was that she wanted him to leave her. To just walk away and forget about her. That wasn’t going to happen. He wasn’t going to live without her being alive. She would have to be stupid to believe that and Jared knew she wasn’t stupid. “Now, what would your pack say to that, eh? They’d be disappointed with you, don’t you think? Offering up humans for slaughter in order to save this young miss? It’s almost…vampiric.” He couldn’t believe he was being compared to a vampire! But he couldn’t fully disagree with the bloodsucker. What he was doing was horrible, he was ending someone else's life instead of ending Kim’s. “No.” He said in answer to the vampires question. “They wouldn’t be happy with me and they would disagree with me...but they would understand.” If any of the other guys imprints were in danger and someone else had to die to save their life the pack wouldn’t want someone else to die but they would understand and wouldn’t hold it against them...or at least he wouldn’t if it happened to someone else.
He didn’t want to upset Kim, never in a million years would he try too but this was different. They were talking life and death. He would do anything to make her happy except agree to watch her die. He wasn’t going to say out loud that he didn’t care if she was upset about the choice he was making because if this was the last time he saw her alive he didn’t want that to be one of the last things he said to her. “So...you don’t think it will upset her if I tell you to kill her?” He questioned. He crossed his arms but was still tense and very aware of his surroundings including the fox in the counter who might attack at any moment.
“You’ve probably lived...a while...” He said looking the vampire over once. He didn’t look old but vampires never did. They were eternally young. He continued, “You must have had someone in your life that you would do anything to protect them.” Yes, it was a long shot. This thing might never have loved, have never cared, but in his human life he quite possibly might of. He wasn’t as young as the other vampires in town, he had obviously lived as a human longer then them. Jared could only hope that the bloodsucker would let Kim go because Jared would do anything in his power to protect her. He would die protecting her if he had too.

Dacre was the cat who had caught the mouse and was still debating over whether to eat it or play with it a little longer. He preferred the latter, though he was not naïve enough to let his mouse go to give it hope before catching it once again. Jared would whisk her away pretty quickly if he did such a thing and Dacre wasn’t in the right mood to be chasing his prey as it was hurried away from him. Vampires were fast, but shifters were faster and Dacre was not going to give Jared the advantage. The shadows were the vampire’s friend, so the alley was something that he had visited many times before and he enjoyed the element of surprise even though his quick reflexes gave the humans enough of a surprise as it was. He could accomplish great things; terrible things. He could massacre an entire village and make history, which may not have a single element of truth in. Humans could not fully understand the concept of mythical creatures until they truly experienced them, and Kim was certainly taking her fill as she trembled in his arms. It would be kinder to put her out of her misery and prevent the onset of mental trauma that the scenario would have on her if he were indeed to allow her to go free.
The sense of hope from Jared, mingled with the resignation from Kim was a stark contrast to the pleasure and delight that the black eyed vampire felt. Emotions, feelings, whatever people named them, were the cure and the destruction of life. It was cruel, the torment that humans suffered from emotions and though Dacre still had them, but his body had almost become numb to them since his elixir in Kiwi had left. Honestly nothing mattered in the world, everyone ended up the same way; dead and buried, or in his case dead, burnt and scattered. In truth he had only recently become a shadow of the human man he used to be, the one who would do anything to protect his family and now he was destroying the happiness shared by two people because he was envious and angry for what he had lost.
The fox was detached from his mind entirely and Dacre didn’t care whether the animal remained near him or disappeared off into Port Angeles for the vampire to track down later on once it was all over. Dacre didn’t know why he was set on the young female, why her scent drew him to her since it was blemished so much by the smell of dog. The vampire smiled, sure the mutts pack would accept Jared’s human sacrifice if it meant the love of his life could be released with no harm done (well almost). “Of course, you shifters always understand each other, accept each other. No matter what, right?” Dacre sneered. “So...you don’t think it will upset her if I tell you to kill her?” He grinned and in one swift movement his hand had slinked away from her waist and grasped a handful of her dark hair whilst his other held her in place against his torso. He tugged a little so her neck tilted to one side, presenting her delicate skin to him as he tormented Jared further. He bared his sharp teeth and leant towards the small pulsating veins with his eyes still locked on the male. “She would understand, wouldn’t you darling? You would understand if he told me to kill you, wouldn’t you? You would know it was the right thing.”
His teeth were mere millimetres from Kim’s flesh, his tongue so close to tasting the delectable blood he had been longing for what felt like a lifetime. Then Jared’s words stopped him going any further. “You must have had someone in your life that you would do anything to protect them.” It was something nobody had ever asked him, no one cared about his past, the humans especially were too concerned with dying to ask the history of the vampire who lusted after their blood. Dacre knew what Jared was doing, it was characteristic for the hero to ask questions about their enemy’s dastardly plan to gain a hole in which to rescue the damsel in distress. He knew that and yet he was still going to provide an answer. It had caught him by surprise and the flashes of memory were invading his mind before he could stop them; his Claudia, his love and their beautiful baby boy.
His grip loosened from Kim’s hair and his hand fell to his side and the smile on his face faltered. “Why do you ask me that?” He spat, as all the negative emotions raged inside him, unsure whether he was more angry or upset by the shifter’s query. “Six hundred and fifty seven years ago I had a wife and son who I could not and would not have saved from death.” He answered bluntly, and the brief trip down memory lane had shown him the similarities between Claudia when she was eighteen and walking down the aisle, and Kim. Their hair was a similar shade, the scent almost exactly the same and the beauty in their innocence was more prominent as he felt what the girl was going through clutched in the arms of a killer. He felt his dead heart skip a beat.“It was fate, or if you prefer; it was the Black Death that killed my wife, age that killed my son and a vampire that took my life.” Dacre said solemnly, though he did not believe a word of what he said, not really. If a vampire had kidnapped his family and threatened to kill them, he would not simply claim it was fate and leave them to die, but fight as hard as he could even if it was futile. He had forgotten that.

Kim could hear all the emotions in Jared's voice. Hope, Fear, Pain...all of it and all at once. Fear not for himself, but for her. Pain not for his own, but for the thought of losing her. She had never seen Jared this concerned and never had been more frightened for her life. The hope was useless though. She could even tell that. She grimaced slightly as the vampire grabbed a handful of her hair. She could feel the cold air on her neck. The side facing the vampire. She shut her eyes and could feel his mouth and his teeth inching closer to her neck. Towards the artery in her neck that could ultimately end up being the vampire own person buffet. She squeezed her eyes shut tightly waiting for the piercing sting of the teeth that never came. Instead, he spoke once more. “She would understand, wouldn’t you darling? You would understand if he told me to kill you, wouldn’t you? You would know it was the right thing.” She shook her head as much as she could considering the handful of hair he had. "He won't do that. He won't leave me." She said, except it did not come out like she had planned. Instead of it coming out as a statement as she had planned, it came out sounding more like a question. “It was fate, or if you prefer; it was the Black Death that killed my wife, age that killed my son and a vampire that took my life.” Her voice was slightly strained from having to speak with her neck exposed and slightly withdrawn. Afraid she might say the wrong thing. "If you could have saved them, had them with you, you would save them wouldn't you. Say they were in the same position, you would do anything to save them right? Just, please let me go....please." She tried once more with the begging routine. Hoping that somehow, with bringing up this wife and child, they had brought up a tender subject. A subject maybe he still had some sort of human emotion towards.

Life and death. Death and Life. He had never had to think about making that decision for him, or for anyone else. He never had to decide if someone could live or die. He never had to choose who the person to die would be...until now. Truthfully, he was terrified of death. Leaving behind everyone scared him even if he didn’t admit it. Death was a scary thing especially when you were making the decision for someone else. He wasn’t choosing death for Kim, he couldn’t make that decision and neither could she. Even if she wanted to choose death he wasn’t going to let her. He couldn’t let her. For one thing he was terrified of losing her and for another he didn’t want to give this monster the satisfaction of knowing how scared he was of losing her, he didn’t want it to know how much this would affect him or important Kim really was to him...it might make the beast want to kill her even more.
“Of course, you shifters always understand each other, accept each other. No matter what, right?”
“Right.” He said through clenched teeth. The pack was always there for each other. They would forever be looking out for each other. It was the way they were. They were just one big happy family...sorta. Kim was part of that family since she was with Jared and that meant that everyone looked out for her too. It was just how things worked within the pack. All he could do was watch as the vampire pulled back his Kimberly’s hair and lean in towards her neck. He inched forward the tiniest bit but stopped himself. He still had a chance to convince him to let Kim go...right? Maybe not... Was this really it? Was he going to have to watch her die? If she was going to die and there was nothing he could do about it, then he didn’t want to just stand here and watch it but he wasn’t going to have Kim’s last memory of him be of him walking away and leaving her to die.
"He won't do that? He won't leave me?” She said...well more questioned. His eyes got wide for a split second and flashed over to stare into her eyes. Did she really, truly think he would leave her? “No. I wouldn’t ever do that.” He said staring at her a second more before turing back to the vampire. How could she really think that?
He had never wanted to kill a vampire so badly. Those newborns seemed like nothing compared to this monster. He knew he could phase and attack him most likely killing him but once he was in wolf form he would go out of control and probably kill Kim too. He didn’t know what to do...except talk. He was good at talking and talking often distracted people from what they were doing. What to say though...? He decided on asking about his past. He truthfully did not care if this thing had a family, if he had friends, if he was good or bad, but he did need more time and this was the only way he could think of doing so. He breathed a silent sigh of relief as he watched the vampire pull back away from Kim and loosen his grip on her hair. “Why do you ask me that?” The vampire asked, clearly upset by his question. This is good...I think...He thought. This meant that there was someone in his life who he really did care about...by the sounds of it it seemed like they were no longer present in his life. “I was just wondering.” He said calmly. “What would you do if that person was in Kim’s position?” He had to stay calm, that was the second most important thing here...right after saving Kim.
“Six hundred and fifty seven years ago I had a wife and son who I could not and would not have saved from death. It was fate, or if you prefer; it was the Black Death that killed my wife, age that killed my son and a vampire that took my life.” He said. Jared would have felt bad for him if he wasn’t threatening Kim at the moment. He hated him no matter what he had gone through as a human, he still hated him even after hearing his tragic tale. He opened his mouth to speak but Kim spoke up before him saying the exact words he would have.
"If you could have saved them, had them with you, you would save them wouldn't you. Say they were in the same position, you would do anything to save them right? Just, please let me go....please."
He awaited the bloodsuckers answer hoping he would give in.

Humans fed off of emotion, it was one of those things that told them that they were truly alive; that along with physical pain of course. Both participants of Dacre’s torturous ritual were suffering from so many different emotions, it was difficult for the vampire to imagine the full effect but he imagined that it was all pretty unpleasant for them, which satisfied him further. He was being cruel, he knew that and somewhere deep inside his human self was disappointed with his way of life; the killings of a serial murdered were nothing compared to the thousands of humans he had murdered to sustain his life thus far. It would be a horrible thought if only he allowed himself to think about it, but that would just ruin his entire existence as a vampire.
”He won’t do that. He won’t leave me” Dacre knew that much, it was as though Jared was attached to Kim by an invisible thread and would literally be with her until the bitter end. “Of course he won’t, he wants to watch you die rather than walking away and never knowing whether you were alive or not. Either way I expect it would destroy him.” He retorted bluntly as he ignored the uncanny feeling that love conquers all. It hadn’t worked in his day in the 1400’s so why should it have any effect now in the 21st century? He doubted much had really changed, except perhaps that people were far more dependent upon one another, but love still provided people with rose coloured glasses that made everything appear just peachy and were then torn apart. Dacre was vaguely aware of the imprinting process in shifters, though he did not understand it or see its purpose. He wondered if Jared would feel any difference if his imprint died or if she simply fell out of love with him. it was an interesting thing to muse over, but Dacre did not have the time to do so whilst his meal was struggling against him.
"If you could have saved them, had them with you, you would save them wouldn't you. Say they were in the same position, you would do anything to save them right? Just, please let me go....please." Dacre could not help but look from the girl to the shifter, but the image did not soften his cold still heart. Anger was rising up as the most prominent emotion, the words hitting him like bullet s, penetrating wounds that were already there but had never healed. Venom filled his mouth as the thirst nagged at him, but he was too distracted to sink his teeth now into Kim’s flesh. “Stop it!” He said through gritted teeth, knowing that they were both waiting for an answer or a reaction that would give them the hope they were longing for. They would be disappointed, since Dacre would not, could not allow the flashes of memory to alter his decision, to soften his heart and just let the human go.
The animal that he had become was riled up inside him, rattling in a cage and desperate to be unleashed upon the world, or rather the two people standing in the alleyway with him. A hiss emitted from between his clasped lips, and he tightened his arm around Kim’s waist, leaving the other free as he propelled himself and his prey away from the wall and to the other side of the alley. His body pressed against hers whilst his free arm prevented him from smashing her body into pieces between himself and the opposite wall. Dacre’s hand smashed hard into the bricks, creating an indentation surrounding his hard skin and dust and pieces of brick tumbled to the ground, whilst Kim’s body slammed against the wall. “Just stop. You’re not taking me on a trip down memory lane to release whatever human memories I have in the hope that I will let you go.” He spat in Kim’s ear, forgetting that Jared was still there since she had been the one who had said the words to provoke him. “Six hundred years is a lot of memories, a lot of deaths and misery that you will never understand, and I have an eternity’s worth left to go. This is merely the circle of life, because one way or another you will die whether it be now or in seventy years; and all there will be is nothing.”

[/i] hell am I looking for? ' She closed her muzzle and take taking in the smells with gasping breathes so she wouldn't miss anything. She didn't know what they smelled like, all she knew is that it smelled like old people perfume, it had a good smell but it burned your nose like crap. And not to hard to point out. The first she found made her stop. She clawed up dirt and grass and she stopped suddenly. At first her nose registered the smell or some sort of cologne or perfume. Soon after smelling it for a few seconds it burned and tore at her nose. That must be it. She doubted an old person was stumbling around in the woods wearing this much so she went with the obvious. So she followed. It would be really awkward if it wasn't one. The smell lead to a public place, It smelled of popcorn and people. She gladly took in the strong smell. It wasn't as strong as her tracking scent but it covered it enough. At first glance it was empty, but the smell moved around. She stayed in the trees thinking of how to do this. Taking in details, things like scuffle marks on the sidewalk, shouting in the alley.... this just to easy.. almost fun. The thought scared her a little. She ran to a crevice in the alley at a speed invisible to most humans. Her massive peeked (well tried) around the corner. A white figure holding a tanner figure, and a man standing away from him. One voice, sarcastic, not caring. The other pleading. And the third.. a womans, she sounded scared but strong. The smell was so strong now she was worried she would lose her sense of smell. The man was diffidently vampire. The other had warmth radiating around him and a familiar smell. A smell that shouted 'friend' at her. The girl was human. Adrenaline spiked her getting her excited. She growled involuntarily. Not knowing what else to do she walked around the corner. She seemed to feel something taking place in her legs. She felt her lips pull up in a snarl. Hopefully the thing would just run away. [/blockquote][/ul] words- to short, it only 815 :'C

“No. I wouldn’t ever do that.” Kim had just begun to get some slight comfort from that before she heard the man's voice once more. Ruining any comfort that had begun to make its way to her. “Of course he won’t, he wants to watch you die rather than walking away and never knowing whether you were alive or not. Either way I expect it would destroy him.” Kim paused for a second before speaking. She knew she was being somewhat stupid in speaking this way to a man with so much power over her life, but she did not care. "Why are you being this way? Why are you so cruel?!" She had never met anyone so cruel and inhuman in her life before. She had never even imagined that anyone could find joy in inflicting such emotional suffering and pain on people.
“Stop it!” That was the last thing she heard before she felt herself being propelled by some kind of inhuman strength. Still connected to the vampire. She yelled out in pain as she felt herself hit the wall on the other side of the alley. She could hear the rock crumbling and see where the man had stopped them with his hand. But, all she could think about was the pain in her arm and the venomous voice in her ear. She did not say anything in response, because (to be honest) he was right. She would die eventually. It was just the question of whether she would get to spend those last seventy years with Jared, or die right now in this dirty alley in the arms of some man she did not know. She leaned her head against the wall, her eyes closed, concentration on going to some other better place. Some old memory with jared, when she heard something that caught her attention. A growl. A beast-like growl. She did not turn her head for fear of what she may see.
(sorry it took so long and is so crappy)

Jared didn’t know what was wrong with him. He wasn’t sure if he was in shock or what but he should be a lot more panicked, and i mean A LOT more panicked. Maybe it was because it didn’t really seem real. He never really thought this would ever happen. i mean, he knew that vampires were everywhere and that they drank human blood all the time and were gone before the pack could stop them but he just didn’t think he would every have to watch someone be eaten by a vampire and not be able to stop them. He knew that him and the other guys could be rather cocky at times about how strong they were and how they could kill a whole pack of vampires and so on and so forth but that wasn’t the case. What a stupid species. The vampire was right on one thing though, it would destroy him when Kim died. Wether it was today or in sixty years, it would destroy him. It was one thing to not be with Kim. If she decided she didn’t love him then that was one thing. He could live with that, if he had to, but if she was dead then he couldn’t live with that.
He watched Kim plead for her life and Jared desperately just wanted her stop. He didn’t want to hear her beg for her life. If she was in danger he should have been able to save her but he wasn’t sure if he could. He couldn’t phase. He just couldn’t, by the time his feet hit the ground this vampires teeth would be in Kim’s neck. Pleading was the only way to stop him. He had a better chance of getting her back safely that way. “Stop it!” The vampire yelled. Crap. That wasn’t what he wanted. He wanted sympathy not anger. In one second the vampire was standing a few feet away from him yelling and in the next he all the way over on the other side of the alley against the wall with Kim is grasp.
Then everything slowed down. He knew everything was really moving fast or at least at regular speed but it seemed a lot slower to him. The vampire now had his back to him. If he was going to attack, it was now. He lunged forward to shift but froze as a new smell came into the alleyway. He didn’t have to turn to know what it was. It was a shifter. A friendly shifter, hopefully. He didn’t recognize the smell and it obviously wasn’t someone from the La Push pack but he hoped they knew what they were doing. Two against one. He hoped- prayed that being outnumbered, he would decide to leave Kim be.
He heard a growl and knew the vampire would have to react to that somehow.
i am SOOOOOOOO sorry it took so long to get this up. All of this schoolwork is eating my muse :/ also this post isn't the best so hope you guys can work with it.... i'll try harder next time
